Summer fun
Not much blogging going on here lately. Life has been busy and every minute not spent on the daily things has been spent at the pool. When all is said and done, I think we will look back and realize those hours spent at the pool building memories where really the most important.
Summer plans include, but are certainly not limited to:
Relaxing.
Spending lots of time with friends.
Countless hours at the pool.
Relaxing.
Painting several rooms in the house.
Relaxing.
Lots of BBQs.
Watermelon seed spitting contests.
Making homemade ice cream every chance we get.
Water balloon fights.
Working on some organizing projects.
Did I mention RELAX?
How about you? What's on your agenda for the hot days of summer?

Um...excuse me?
"Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the 57 United States."
Though I have reveled in watching the two democratic candidates hang themselves repeatedly over the past several months, I have generally kept my opinions to myself. There are enough political blogs out there already without me giving my two cents on the message of "hope" and "change"...actually, that two cents is about all his message is worth, but that's another story.
This Obama slip-up however is just too amazing to pass up. You won't hear about it on the Obama lovin' networks, but here it is in all it's ridiculous glory.
I would venture to guess that most, if not all, homeschool preschoolers could tell you how many states there are in the United States. It's not hard, really it's not. Apparently however, this bit of information is not important if you are seeking to be the leader of the free world.
Um, excuse me Mr. Obama, but I believe the answer you were looking for is 50.
Maybe we should cut him some slack...after all, he wasn't homeschooled.

Home at last

Roller coasters - bring 'em on...the bigger the better! We spent an absolutely awesome day yesterday at Six Flags. Time with family and dear friends is always a blessing. While not everyone enjoys the thrill of going 0 to 70 in four seconds, we enjoyed just being together. It was a day full of laughter and lots of great memories.
On the way home I was suddenly overcome with a very distinct feeling...one I had been anticipating, unsure of when it would happen. As I looked out at the Texas skyline, I suddenly realized - I am home. We've been here for just over a year and yet it still felt a bit foreign, like we were simply on vacation. The Lord has allowed our roots to grow down deep into the Texas soil and He has bound our hearts to precious new friends in ways we never could have imagined. I am overwhelmed with thanks.
Here's the cool part. I turned to Mike and told him what I had just been thinking. His eyes widened a bit and he told me that he had been thinking the exact same thing! What an awesome God moment!
Though I miss our Idaho friends and family terribly, I am so thankful to be serving Him here in Texas. He is so good!

The WORD is alive!
I've tried several times to sit down and put into words what took place this weekend at our ladies' retreat. Words simply fail me. Surprising I know! How can I explain worshipping in the very presence of God and hearing His WORD spoken directly to my heart? It was an absolutely amazing experience.
I am continuing to pray and seek the Lord over what He spoke to me. Hopefully, I can begin to share some things over the next few weeks. In the meantime, I will leave you with this video. I hope you will take a minute to close your eyes and worship Him as you listen. Let His WORD sink deep into your spirit. Ladies, God's WORD is ALIVE and has the power to change your life!

This momma's on the loose!
54 minutes and counting...I am headed out to our weekend ladies retreat. Woo hoo! Yes, they're letting me out for a couple of days. No cooking, cleaning or cutting up anyone's food. I guess I could cut up Lindsay's if I really start missing home, but she might object.
I am excited to get away, relax, spend time with friends and see what the Lord has in store for us as we worship together. It's gonna be good!
